Katy Perry's Teenage Dream

"California Gurls" has finally end it's run as the #1 song after 6 consecutive weeks, but with all bad news there has to be some good. Well the good news is that we have with Katy's second single "Teenage Dream"

Oh Katy will you ever allow me to see you as more than naive California teenager who Gummy Bears hate? I hope not, because Teenage Dream is a great! Trading beachy fierceness for a more guitar driven sound is a great idea.  The song like California Gurls showcases Katy's unique voice and quirky lyrical content, but this time Katy is singing with passion from Venus as she reminiscences about the times she spent with her boyfriend. Radio is going to devour so much of this, they're need to have their stomachs pumped. Mark my words This album is about to become the sleeper smash of 2010!

Christina Aguilera - You Lost Me (Official Video)

You Lost Me is waking me up better than my caffeine laced coconut coffee! I really liking this song and hope it regenerates interest in her Bionic album.

It's a Plane, No it's an Actor...Oh No Wait..... Now Their a Singer{sigh}

Since the beginning of modern entertainment, where there was film and television there was music. Then one day actors and actress said screw this, I have a bad to great voice and I want to be a singer! Now we've been blessed, cursed, and entertained by these musical "artist"

So I decided to post my favorite actresses who turned into singers:

Janet Jackson - Alright

Janet caught her 1st major break as Penny on Good Times, but later went on to become one of the biggest recording artist of all time. The true queen of the triple threats had so many songs to choose from, I just picked the first song that appeared on my Ipod!

Hilary Duff - Fly

Lizzie McGuire may have turned her into Disney's first major star of late 90's, but her music career generated her a loyal fanbase beyond the tween and teen world. Fly is just pure candy coated rock(pop), how can you not love it?

Jennifer Lopez - Jenny From the Block

I really hope Jenny prays and thanks the original Mexican Queen Selena everynight, because without her role in Selena's movie she'd probably  remained a background dancer.Though Jenny From the Block isn't my favorite Jenny song, I think it gives a great summary of who she was and how far she's come.

Lindsay Lohan - Rumor

Long before Lindsay was being immortalized on Robot Chicken or going to jail because of her substance abuse problems, she was an actress who starred in numerous movies like the Parent Trap before starting an on and off again singing career. Rumors is the single that sparked my interest in Lindsay and made me realize that was really a triple threat.

Jennifer Love Hewitt - BareNaked

After staring in the I Know What You Did Last Summer series Jennifer made the leap into a music with a mildly successful career. BareNaked has always been a stand out track from her amazing catalog.

Tell me what you think in the comment section!

T.I. Video Clip & Song

With the premiere of TI's new video for the single "Got Your Back" drawing near(VH1 will debut it this weekend) I decided to post the song so some of you could get acquainted or others re-acquainted. Also checkout the 30 second sneak peek of the video here!

I'm diggin' this song and the chorus is so repetitive that its guaranteed to quickly implant itself in the the memory of its listeners.

Robyn Dances for Her Life at Letterman!

International electro star Robyn stopped by the David Letterman show to perform her hit "Dancing on My Own"

Robyn came to the Letter Show with no other purpose but to shut that ish DOWN! She gave the viewers an entire meal including: band appetizers, vocal main course, and for dessert she served a huge helping of Swedish hardcore dancing. I mean come on, isn't her dancing style the most intriguing thing you've seen on TV in a while?

When will your faves.... oh forget it they never will{sigh}

New Mike Posner

Mike Posner has a new song available via Itunes entitled "Please Don't Go". Peep it below:

Another great track from Mr. Posner, and I could even go as far to say that I like this song a zillion times more than "Cooler Than Me." Please Don't Go is laced with sounds similar to my favorite game Sonic on the Sega!(How did you like the trip back in time?) Posner does a great job merging pulsating electropop sounds with elements of urban music. I just hope he doesn't become a super douche like Justin Timberlake...

Robyn's Hang With Me

We now have the official 1st single from Robyn's Body Talk part 2 called "Hang With Me"

I can tell this is a great song which utilizes Robyn's signature vocals over a "energized" electropop production, but of course you know I'm still on my "Dancing On My Own" high! So once that wears off I will be able to truly appreciate this great slice of pop cake. Robyn is really going IN with her Body Talk series.

Using your unclouded judgment tell me what you think!

Wynter Gordon is OK with Dirty Talk

Below you can view Wynter Gordon's new video for her single "Talk Dirty"

I'll add my fifty cent with your dollar later!

So drop me a comment!

Radio Saved the R&B Star

On my way to work this morning I was listening to the radio when I heard a song that really caught my attention. It sounded very similar to Ciara's Promise or something you would hear on the Evolution. Since I was already late I had to rush out of the car and missed the mystery artist's name. So I began my search to find out who this singer was. It can't be Ciara because she's still trying to figure out when she's going to drop her album and my next thought was Dondria but it wasn't her either. So thanks to Twitter I was able to contact Tasha Simone, the radio personality who played the song, and she informed it was Arika Kane!

Arika is signed to BSE recordings. She says, "I was always a big fan of music. I grew up smack in the middle of big hits like Mariah Carey's "Vision of Love," and "Vanishing," and Whitney Houston's "Saving All My Love." These were very powerful songs which had a huge effect on me. They had me hooked!"

Check out 4 The Lovers

I officially feel accomplished and refuse to do any work for the rest of the day! 4 the Lovers is a smooth sexy joint that is meant to be spreading like wide fire all over urban charts! She needs a MAJOR push right now, because she's too FIYAH for her to not have the music world buzzing. So i'll start the buzz here at Venue808. Arika I didn't know who you were until now but with songs like this you're about be on the Venue808 List!

And a special thanks to @TashaSimone for the info! Keep rocking my radio!

The Script is Back

The Script has released their first single "For The First Time" from their new album Science & Faith. Listen below:

I like it and every alcoholic around the world can relate to drinking some cheap wine during a hard time in their life. It's a great heart felt ballad that should do well in the UK.

Tell me your thoughts in the comment section.

Introducing Mishon

Due to my sister being a super Lincoln Heights stan I actually know Mishon, but currently he's working to make the transition from television star to pop star. He's signed to Dynasty Records/ Streamline/Interscope Records and his album is titled The Yearbook.

Checkout his new single Turn It Up featuring Roscoe Dash:

The male urban artist game has been really slipping lately! The only artist out are Trey Songz, Usher, and Chris Brown is crawling his way back into the hearts of music lovers. So it's really good to see some fresh young talent bring new energy to the urban pop game. He has a nice voice, fluid like dance movements, and a good personality from what I've seen. Then his music is great for the tweens and teens across the country. I call it Itunes/ringtone magic crack tracks. I think we've found our next superstar. Add him to the list!

Now Playing

As you guys know I like to feel you in on what I'm obsessing over from time to time. Currently it's ice cream cake and Community the TV show. However, on the musical side I can't stop listening to Britney Spears' "Phonography" Listen below:

Britney where has this dirty hi-tech track been all my life?!? Only Britney could and would compare sex in using an inanimate object like a cell phone. The definition of trashtastic!

Miley's 2nd Single is....

Now done with the trashtastic Can't Be Tame , Miley has decided to release Two More Lonely People as her second single from her album Can't Be Tamed.

It's pretty good and what's even better I can see it recapturing some of the tween fans she loss after "Can't Be Tamed" was released. It's a nice song and that's my main problem with it, there's nothing extraordinary about the song. But hey I'm 22 and like Prince's hookers in training group Vanity6. At best I see this song charting within the top 20 or top 10 simply.

Kylie at the Alan Carr Show

Pop icon Kylie Minogue stopped by the Alan Carr Show to perform her second single "Get Outta My Way"

Great performance as usual, from one of the worlds best performers of all time.

Auburn in my Hair!

Auburn is a new artist signed to Beluga Heights Records/Warner Bros. Her new single La La La, features Iyaz, and can be heard below:

La La La is hella catchy! It's like when gum got stuck in my hair and my mom had to cut chucks and chucks of my afro off. The more hair she cut, the more gum appeared. (Try going to school with patches of hair missing from your head)Auburn's song is like that gum it just won't get out of my head! She's using the perfect formula to find success on the charts, like working on J.R. Rotem(Jason Derulo), using a bit of autotune, and having Iyaz featured on the infectious urban pop track.

SideEye: She gives me the same vibe Ciara gave me during her Goodies era...and we see how well that album did!

Trey Wants Nicki Bottom Up?

Below you can grab a ear full of Trey Songz featuring Nicki Minaj "Bottoms Up"

Push me down a million stairs because I never thought I'd see the day when I instantly liked a song that had anything to with the singer Trey Songz. To save face I'll pretend Nicki IS the reason I like it.

Usher's New Video

Below you can watch the video for Usher's single "There Goes My Baby"

Okay on a serious tip until this morning I thought this song had already been released and flopped. Then they moved on to that crappy OMG song.  However, I was very wrong it's actually doing pretty good on the urban charts. I actually always enjoyed "There Goes My Baby" behind the trashtastic "Daddy's Home". As for the video...well it's an Usher video, so if you've seen one you've seen past, present, and future.

Our Type of Artist

As you know I'm looking for various artist to post for the site. Some of you may know Darin, but I didn't know who he was until today so I decided to do a post. Darin is signed to Universal Music in Sweden, and is set to release untitled fifth studio album August 25, 2010.

Here is his first single "LoveKiller"

Wow this is a powerful climatic KILLER! LoveKiller has a chorus that's guaranteed to get you some looks if you randomly sing "Your a LoveKiller. Your a murderer" at your local grocery store.  I  can't wait to do it!!!!! Summer wouldn't be complete without some older lady saying, "bless that child's soul." Add Darin to the list!

David Guetta Katie Ann-Marie

A new song by super producer David Guetta and features Katie Ann-Marie. Listen below:

I like David's music but if you don't say ish on the song it's hard for me to consider the actual singer, who sings the entire song alone,  as the featured artist. Other than that its a pretty good song.

Short But Simple

With the singer, husband, writer, and producer The Dream on the beach with some random Candy Girl, I decided to post some music to remind us all just how SEXY Christina Milian is:

"I'm sexy" is this dark egotistical track that talks about sex with  interesting lyrics.(Shoot me up like a Harlem Knight) This is one of my favorite leaks from Christina behind "Nevermind". That shady The Dream(Really!) better not mess with Christina record deal, because hell or high waters I'm getting this new album!

Kylie Minogue 2nd Single....

Kylie is in flying extremely high right now with her new album Aphrodite debuting #1 on the UK official album charts! She's also confirmed that her second single will be "Get Outta My Way" Take a listen below

International Goddess Kylie already had me with the euphoric "All the Lover" now she's dropping this guaranteed club smash! Ms. Minogue give the youngin's a chance to live their lives before you drop songs that mass murder their entire catalog. However, I'm making it known now that Illusion must be a third single.

Meet Lights!

I'm really amped to look and discover new talent for you guys! So I ran across Lights on Myspace.(Don't judge me)Lights is a uber talent that I can't wait for you to hear. She describes herself as being a Canadian girl who makes intergalactic-electro music. What in relaspe hell is intergalactic-electro music? Well Lights says that the sounds seem like they could have been plucked from Saturn's rings or a meteor belt. Equal parts fantastical/epic/beautiful/emotional."

Below you can checkout Lights' single "Second Go".

And Saviour

Musically Lights is very similar to Hilary Duff especially during her Dignity era. Both make electro/pop music, and like Hilary, Lights doesn't fit the typical mold for this music because of her unique vocal style. Her songs Second Go and Saviour pair her emotionally driven voice with spacey pop productions that could sit well on charts across the planet.  Then to add more controlled substances to her appeal, she has a comic book series called Audio Quest which is a great watch! Currently she's performing in Canada. My fingers are crossed that she'll make it big so the world can see her talent!  Add her to the list!

Just Dance video - Directors Cut

I just ran across the director's cut of Just Dance by Lady Gaga. View it below:

The changes are very obvious. In this version there's more focus placed on Lady Gaga doing solo choreography and different poses. I personally like this version more because I always said I wished there had been more scenes of Gaga dancing.

Now Playing

Mary J Blige Stronger. Listen with me now:

MJB only makes GREAT music. That's the life we live...

Leighton Meester Meant For Success

Leighton Meester released her official first single "Somebody to Love" last year. Check it out below:

Why!!!!!!!!! Why couldn't you support a simple girl who wanted to be a pop superstar America? Who cares she's already has a uber successful tv career, that's beside the point! When "Somebody to Love" was release October 14, 2009 last year we all generally agreed it was amazing and that we would support Leighton. I kept my end of the bargain did you? I think not!

Lindsay Don't Die!!!!

Lindsay Lohan may have been sentenced to 90 days in jail but she's not ready to die. Listen to her latest leak "Too Young to Die"

You guys should know I'm a gigantic Lindsay Lohan music fan! Too Young To Die is just exactly what I've come to expect from Lilo great production paired with her raspy voice equal a winner.  I really hope when she gets out of jail then rehab, she'll throw herself into her music!!! She's one of those people who just happens to be good at something but because their good at some many other things they don't really put their all in anything. If you get what I'm saying

Kid Cudi All Summer

Kid Cudi has new music online. The song is called All Summer and you can hear it here:

Kid Cudi really doesn't allow himself to fall into the mainstream hip hop category. This song, though supa dupa amazing, wouldn't get single play on urban stations or BET. But that's never really been Cudi's goal cause his first album Man On the Moon was on some whole other alternative visionary type of ish. Like I always say, you got your Drakes kicking it with the jocks and cheerleaders then you got your Kid Cudi with the stoners and rage kids!

New Usher Music

Usher is prepping for the release of his new EP titled Versus. Check out the first single “DJ Got Us Fallin’ in Love” featuring Pitbull.

DJ Got Us Fallin' In Love - Usher feat. Pitbull by user7183165

As soon as this came on I had a deja vu moment and thought of the Six Flags theme song, and I thought of Kelly Rowland's When Love Takes Over! Then I had the desire to ride dangerous rides and eat cotton candy, but that a story for another time. “DJ Got Us Fallin’ in Love” is your typical euro-dance pop song with all the usual bells and whistles. Which means one thing.... this is about to clog every radio space! I'll most likely give it a few more spins then forget about it. That's the life we live...

Kat DeLuna Creates New Time.

Kat DeLuna is back with a new song entitled Party O'Clock. Listen Below:

First off I should tell my visitors that there is no such thing as a Party O'Clock, so don't go trying find it on your clocks at home...like I did(sigh) Back on task Party O'Clock is a international smasher which combines Kat's exotic voice with the song's producer RedOne dance sound. I can see this blasting in clubs and on yachts.

Wow Let's All Partake

Grab a girl, guy, and (or) yourself and take a listen to the Scissor Sister's "Sex and Violence".

This track is a pure hypnotic trip with its eerie synth heavy production, haunting vocal performance, and very intriguing lyrics. If you want to break your mundane music playlist add this to the mix.

Ciara Wants Dat Ya'll

Ciara's second single "Gimme Dat is currently floating around the web (mainly Twitter)Peep a listen after this point:

*Update* Its now unknown whether Gimme Dat is Ciara official second single, but if it ain't it should BE! This song is so hyper and so infectious  there's no way it wouldn't become a smash hit. Sonically this is by far one of the best uptempos I've heard her record since The Evolution. Believe it or not I can even hear artist growth on the bass heavy Gimme Dat. The Ciara who made Goodies could never handle a beat a complex as this one with such natural ease. Is CiCi about to bring, dead in the water, Crunk music back... I say Yes. All hail the new Queen of Crunk Ciara!

Gimme Dat feedback in the comment section!  -_^

Jason Derulo Has a New Single

Jason Derulo announced on his Twitter that he was filming the video for his song "What If". Grab a listen below:

This definitely falls in line with the vibe of his previous singles, so it could work well on the charts.

Let's All Check in the Electrick Hotel

Lolene is an up and coming international singer who's about to make major waves! Check out her first official single Rich(Fake It Til You Make It) from her album Electrick Hotel below:

Rich (Fake It Til You Make It)Official Video

If we were betting on future popstars I would have to put my entire college fund behind Lolene! Artistically she's exactly what the industry is about right now fun music, beauty, and the ability to dance. However, she is breaking the mold by actually being able to SING! Lolene, who sings in today's economic times, your doing TOO MUCH! (lol) Lolene says that Madonna, Prince, Debbie Harry, Coldplay, Cyndi Lauper, and Grace Jones are her musical influence and it's easy to find their influence within her music. Of course you all know she's going on the Superstar list!

Ciara Drops a Remix

Ciara and Soulja Boy got together for a song entitled Pretty Girl Swag. Listen below:

I'm really feeling this one from Ciara. She's really on her job to re-secure control of the urban community. She even goes show far to borrow pieces of Soulja Boy's delivery, while still giving us signature CiCi! Basic Instinct is shaping up to be The Evolution 2.0!

Tell what you think in the comment section!

Fantasia's New Video

Fantasia's Bittersweet video is making its rounds in the blogsphere and has finally made it to Venue808! Check the video for Bittersweet below:

This is a great R&B cut and will do really well in the urban market. At first I wasn't feeling this song, because I was still trying to tell the Twinkie junkie down the street from me the "Even Angels" learn to fly, but after that was done and I properly listen to this song I was like okay this is good.

Colbie Caillat's third single.,...

Colbie and her team have decided that Begin Again will be her third single from her album the Breakthrough. Grab a ear full below:

Introducing the Funktastic Margo

Check out her single Cover Girl below:

Margo - Cover Of A Magazine by TPBSecretLeaks

Wow its like looking and listening to Prince/Vanity6/Apollonia6 if they all jumped into one insanely talented body. Her sound borrows the best elements of the 80's musically and fuses them with a fresh viberant sound that todays music listener will be able to enjoy.

Enrique Iglesias featuring Akon One Day At A Time

If Enrique is smart he drop this right now! This track classic summertime Akon, which means it would be wonders on the Billboards chart and also help sell for Enrique's new album Euphoria which drops July 6, 2010 in the US.

Maroon 5 is BACK

Robyn

I've been constantly playing Robyn's "Dancing On My Own"
I don't why I always overlooked her everytime I saw her name on a post somewhere. However, over the weekend I finally broke down and listened to Dancing On My Own and yo I haven't stopped yet. Backed with thumping electro production, Swedish singer Robyn sincerely sings about losing someone she loves but instead of falling apart she declares she'll dance on her own! Add her to the "Superstar List"!

Janet Jackson this Ain't the 90's!!!

Below you can watch Janet Jackson preform at the Essence Festival:

What Have You Done For Me Lately -Feedback - Let’s Wait Awhile- I Get Lonely

Discipline Song Mix

Doesn’t Really Matter-Escapade-When I Think of You-All For You

Who told Janet to come on that stage and perform like she was a twenty something on her Velvet Rope tour! She had the voice, the choreography, the 38 HOTTNESS, and swag from Saturn. This only confirm Janet gets better with age.

Add him to the Superstar List

Below is Jay Z's protege J. Cole's video for first official single Who Dat:

Okay before you threaten to slit my tires for posting old news, I honestly just heard of him! However, I'm glad I did cause he's OFFICIAL yo! You can definitely hear the Jay Z influence in his flow, which is a great thing.

His first album Cole World is expected to drop October 26, 2010.

Eminem's 2nd Single

Love The Way U Lie is set to be Eminem's second single from his current #1 album Recovery. A video for the single also reported to be on the way.

I could've predicted this while drowning in kiddie pool trying to recover a bite sized Snicker I dropped. It's simple math you take one recovering superstar and one singer who's notorious for taking pics and looking edgy, and BOOM you've got yourself a hit. The song has already enjoyed digital success topping the Itunes chart, so its a safe bet to say it'll be number one on the Billboard chart soon.

Superstars of the Moment...Hedley

Below is the Canadian pop-rock band Hedley!

If you follow me on Twitter yesterday you read that I was watching the MuchMusic Video Awards. Well one of the performers that I stumbled across was Hedley. Which to be honest I thought was one person until I did a little research and found out it was band! Composed of lead singer Jacob Hoggard(who'd make Alicia Keys proud with his piano playing skills)Tommy Mac on bass, Dave Rosin on the guitar and Chris Crippin on drums. This group has what it takes to cross over into the US and dominate! They're like taking One Republic's emotionally driven sound but replacing the good guy image, with four shady looking guys who'd fix a car, scam the owner out of thousands, and then sing about it on the way home. (WINNERS) I see major things happening for this group in the international market!

Checkout their song Perfect below:
